5 Days Ahead info on em : 5 Days Ahead is an emo/pop-punk band based out of Horsham, PA. The band formed in early May of 2001 when the band’s current drummer, Kevin, and bass player, Andrew, were in search for discovering new band mates to form a band with. Once finding Pete Saunders to play guitar, and Jesse Sandler to play second guitar, and a talented lead vocalist, Chris Lawrence, the new group was ready to start their career as an up-and-coming band. After only two months of practicing together, the band then headed into the recording studio for their first time. Thanks to producer, Walt MeCleary, at Groundhog Recording Studios (Holland, PA), their debut CD/EP, "Broken Dreams and Pictures of You," was released in November of 2001. This CD would not have been recorded and pressed if it weren’t for the financial support of fellow friends and family members who wanted to hear "good" recordings of the band. Thanks to amazing fans, 900 out of 1,000 copies of this CD/EP was sold indepen! dently, all within only one full year. After the release of "Broken Dreams and Pictures of You," 5 Days Ahead went through a slight structural change in the band’s instrumental line-up. Jesse, the second guitarist, was replaced by the current second guitarist, Mike Merring. After Mike joined the crew, the band’s sound progressed even more, allowing the band to jump to dimensions that they never believed would become reality. Following this critical stage, the band consistently played shows every weekend; 5 Days Ahead performed on average, eight to ten times per month. Not one, but two shows a week was the normal schedule for all five members. Due to the fact that Kevin was still in high school, and full-time jobs were in effect for the remaining band members, the band was unable to tour at the time. However, future tour plans are being considered, and details are continuing to be worked with. With over 75 shows under their belt (December, 2002), the band has since gone on to bring its exceptional talent and driving energy to the stages of many venues, including schools, churches, VFW’s, talent shows, and "Battle of Bands’" throughout Philadelphia and its surrounding communities. In addition, 5 Days Ahead has shared the stage with both large and small bands, including: The Starting Line, Coheed and Cambria, Don’t Look Down, Brand New, The Rocking Horse Winner, The Early November, Punchline, Glasseater, and Days Away. Because of the wonderful crowd response the band received after playing numerous shows throughout the northeastern region of the U.S., the members of 5 Days Ahead remained motivated, and hungry for future success. A decent northeastern and national fan base has been established, as it continues to grow to date. In February of 2002, the band received word that a new record label was interested in working with the band. With the financial and friendly support of PumpkinEater Records, new elements were added to the band such as t-shirts, stickers, hoodies, and last but not least, promotion throughout the country and various parts of the world. All the members of 5 Days Ahead agree that this label is an exceptional label to be a part of; they continue to do an excellent job of expanding the roots of the young, yet established, band. With the extraordinary sound production work of Vince Ratti at The Skylight (Fairless Hills, PA), 5 Days Ahead was able to finished recording, mixing, and mastering a 13-track full-length follow up CD titled, "As Life Passes You By," under the guidance and support of their new label. With a strong and growing history, 5 Days Ahead remains to "reach high for the sky;" They want their dreams of today, to be successes of tomorrow. Numerous listeners agree that one day this will happen. With the help of their supporting friends, family, and fans, their dreams just may come Product Description For everyone who enjoys the poppiness of many new-age punk bands such as: The Starting Line, New Found Glory, etc, and the emotion-filled music from bands like Further Seems Forever, Keepsake, and Jimmy Eat World, there's no doubt that this album will be ringing in your head for days, weeks, or even months. "As Life Passes You By" combines various popular genres that today's youth seems to be listening to all into 1 album, thus allowing for a totally new and unique sound. Lyric-wise, this album touches the listener's emotions from all different angles. From love to hate, dealing with friends and family, the lyrics to this album are lyrics which many people could realate to. This album isn't just about losing love and heartbreak...it's also about the little things in life that make living worthwhile. The music on this album is not just pop-punk, emo, hardcore, or screamo, but rather a variation of these styles based on the band's many musical influences, thus making it catchy. This album is a great album that should be noticed by many music lovers of today. If you want quality material that could be the next new wave of music, definately check out this album.
